Enhancing Health Through Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

A group of leading healthcare and medical associations, including the ACCME, ACGME, ABMS, AMA, AOA, AAMC, CMSS, NBME, NBOME, and NRMP have come together to voice their support for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies in healthcare. This unified statement underscores the importance of addressing systemic inequities in the healthcare system to ultimately improve patient outcomes across the nation.

The coalition believes that by advocating for DEI initiatives they can ensure that physicians from diverse backgrounds are equipped with the tools and resources necessary to provide high-quality care to all patients. They recognize that longstanding disparities within the healthcare system must be addressed in order to create a more inclusive and accessible profession that better serves the needs of all individuals.

Physicians play a critical role in shaping the health and well-being of communities and therefore it is important for them to foster a physician workforce capable of delivering holistic care to a diverse patient population. The coalition emphasizes this by prioritizing inclusive excellence through their collective efforts. They aim to drive positive outcomes for both their members and the patients they serve.

By coming together to support DEI policies in healthcare these leading health care and medical associations are taking a proactive stance in addressing existing challenges and inequalities within the profession. Through their collective efforts they hope to pave the way for a more equitable and accessible healthcare system that benefits all individuals.
