The End of an Era: Harvey Slarskey Shuts Down Tatnuck Meat and Seafood After 50 Years

Tatnuck Meat & Seafood shuts its doors in Worcester after half a century

After 50 years of operation, the doors of Tatnuck Meat and Seafood have permanently closed. Longtime owner and founder Harvey Slarskey made the decision to shut down due to declining business and health issues. His son Michael expressed gratitude to their customers for their support over the years and acknowledged that it was a difficult decision to close.

Harvey Slarskey founded the store as Tatnuck Meats Market in his 30s, having previously worked in the cattle business. He was known for building relationships with customers on a first-name basis and was dedicated to providing high-quality products and customer service. The store expanded in 2011 by adding seafood to its name and offerings, further expanding its product range.

Slarskey’s commitment to quality was evident in the few complaints received over the 40 years of operation. Despite facing challenges over time, he remained dedicated to his business until the end. The closing of Tatnuck Meat and Seafood marks an era coming to an end for this beloved Worcester community staple.
