New Era Acquires Beloved Boston Sports Apparel Brand 47, Reinforcing Its Dominance in the Baseball Apparel Market

Popular Boston Sports Apparel Company, Famous for Fenway Store, Acquired – NBC Boston

New Era, a leading baseball apparel company, has announced the acquisition of ‘47, a well-known brand in Boston sports apparel that has been a familiar face to longtime Red Sox fans. Despite the acquisition, ‘47 will retain its local headquarters in Westwood, according to the announcement made by New Era last week.

The name ‘47 is derived from the year in which it was established and the company was managed by the D’Angelo family for many years. Founded by twins Henry and Arthur D’Angelo, ‘47 grew to become a prominent apparel brand that became closely associated with the fan experience outside Fenway Park. The company’s store across Jersey Street from the ballpark was often crowded with fans on game days. ‘47 was also recognized for being the first to produce team pennants, as per Major League Baseball records.

This acquisition marks a significant milestone for both companies as they look to expand their reach and strengthen their positions in the competitive sports apparel market. With its wide range of baseball hats, T-shirts, and other apparel, New Era is well-positioned to capitalize on this acquisition and continue its growth trajectory. In turn, ‘47 will benefit from New Era’s resources and expertise in marketing and distribution, allowing it to reach even more customers and expand its product offerings.
