Kyle Larson reaches top spot in NBC Sports NASCAR Power Rankings

This weekend’s NASCAR Cup and Xfinity races at Iowa will see the return of racing to NBC and USA Network. Kyle Larson’s victory at Sonoma has propelled him to the top of the Power Rankings, marking his third win of the season. Meanwhile, Denny Hamlin, who previously held the top spot, finished last at Sonoma due to engine trouble.

In this week’s rankings, Tyler Reddick secured a fourth-place finish, marking his seventh top-five finish in the last 10 races. Ross Chastain earned a fifth-place finish, while Alex Bowman finished 15th after a previous streak of five consecutive top-10 finishes. William Byron hit rock bottom with a 30th place finish at Sonoma due to tire issues and an incident on track. However, he has been known for bouncing back quickly from setbacks.

Brad Keselowski had a rough go of it at Sonoma but still managed to maintain a strong performance overall by finishing 13th. Christopher Bell secured a ninth-place finish despite having some troubles on track during Sunday’s race. Martin Truex Jr., who had been in the top 10 rankings for several weeks, dropped out this week after finishing 26th at Sonoma due to an accident on lap 48.
