Diamondbacks Add to Already Impressive Rotation with Signing of Jordan Montgomery.

Diamondbacks sign one-year contract with left-handed pitcher Jordan Montgomery

The Arizona Diamondbacks have bolstered their starting rotation by signing left-handed pitcher Jordan Montgomery to a one-year contract worth up to $25 million. The deal includes a vesting option for 2025. Montgomery, a seven-year veteran, spent the last season with the St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers.

Montgomery was instrumental in helping the Rangers secure their first World Series title, going 3-1 in the postseason. In his first 21 starts with the Cardinals, he posted a 6-9 record with a 3.42 ERA. After being traded to the Rangers in July, he went 4-2 with a 2.79 ERA over his final 11 starts.

With a career 3.68 ERA and a 38-34 record over 141 appearances, Montgomery brings valuable experience to the Diamondbacks’ pitching staff. He made his MLB debut in 2017 with the New York Yankees before being traded to the Cardinals in 2022.

The Diamondbacks’ rotation already features pitchers like Zac Gallen, Merrill Kelly, Tommy Henry, Brandon Pfaadt, and Ryne Nelson. With Montgomery joining their ranks, they are poised for success in the upcoming season as they take on the Colorado Rockies in Phoenix on Thursday.
