Breaking Barriers: Gender Diversity on the Rise at Helsinki Stock Exchange

Women have surpassed men in becoming CEOs of listed companies

In recent years, the Helsinki Stock Exchange has seen a significant increase in diversity among its CEOs of listed companies. According to recent calculations by responsibility consultant Kaisa Hernberg, there are now more women CEOs than Juha CEOs in Helsinki. Specifically, Hernberg found that there are ten women as managing directors of listed companies, compared to only five Juhas.

Despite this progress, Hernberg believes that there is still room for improvement in achieving greater gender diversity among CEOs. She notes that while the number of female CEOs has increased since 2015, it is still not enough to achieve true gender parity in leadership positions.

In contrast, data from 2015 showed that more listed companies were led by men named Juha than women. However, the Central Chamber of Commerce’s annual review of female managers suggests that the number of female CEOs has decreased since then.

The Chamber of Commerce collected data showing that the number of female CEOs rose from one to around ten in the mid-2010s and has remained relatively stable ever since.
